Breast Lift Surgery

Signs that you may Require a Breast Lift can Include

• Sagging of your breast
• No volume or minimal volume
• No defined shape
• Hanging breasts
• Areola & skin is stretched
• Nipples or areolas are not pointing upwards any more
• One breast is higher than the other

Typically after a lift only your breasts will achieve a more youthful and a ski slope result. The surgery does not change the size of your breasts and in fact they are likely to appear smaller. If you are wanting to achieve a more full and round outcome then you may require a Breast Lift and also a Breast Augmentation.

Breast Lift and Breast Augmentation at the same Time? This is a Very Common Occurrence and a Definite Option for You.

Breast Lift Incision Types

Breast Lift Techniques Tend to go by Names that Reference the Shape of the Scars that Remain After Surgery.

Types of Breast Lifts Include:

ANCHOR BREAST LIFT or a Full breast lift or Wise pattern mastopexy or Anchor pattern mastopexy and most frequently known as an Inverted T Procedure.

Typical Inverted T Surgery Patients
This type of lift is suited to women that have lost a significant amount of weight and have excessive skin and Women that have experienced major breast deflations after having children.

Easiest Type of Breast Lift
Surgeons indicate that an anchor breast lift is the simplest type of breast lift and it is also usually the most radical. It certainly is not the type of surgery that is recommended for every patient requiring a lift.

This surgery is called a T procedure because the incisions look like an anchor This surgery provides major improvement and adjustment to the breast tissue. Additionally this particular type of lift assists the surgeon with removing excess skin and tissue. It is particularly useful for patients that have significant excess breast skin to be removed immediately following surgery your breasts will be quite high and perky however within the following month the surgery results will settle and your breasts should take up an attractive normal look

TBreast Lift Problems
(i) As this type of surgery causes the most scarring it can result in women not wanting to show their cleavage
(ii) Possible Sensation Change – see below

VERTICAL BREAST LIFT or The Vertical Mastopexy or the Circum-Vertical Mastopexy or Lollipop Mastopexy or Vertical Lift
The type of surgery is often requested by patients that can be concerned about scarring with other types of lifts however the surgery type is only suitable for patients requiring moderate ptosis( sagging) correction

PERI-AREOLAR BREAST LIFT or PERIARELAR BREAST LIFTT or Periareolar Masopexy or Nipple Lift or Donut Lift
This is a minor breast lift suitable for mild cases of breast ptosis or sagginess. The surgery type can see your areloa being lifted 2 -3 cms.

CRESCENT BREAST LIFT or Partial Mastopexy
This surgery requires a small incision above the areola and is used for women that have minimal sagging. The otcome of this surgery is that there is a minor elevation of your breasts and your arela and nipple will be raised. Scarring can be seen however the scar will fade with time and it will become more difficult to see. This type of lift is often combined with breast augmentation surgery

Breast Scarring & Breast Lift Incisions with a T lift
Due to a number of incisions required with the Anchor lift this type of lift surgery provides the most scarring.
(i) Scarring is around your areola
(ii) Down your breast in a vertical line to your breast cease

There is more scarring with this type of surgery however this type of surgery provides your surgeon control of the ultimate shape.

Sensations Changes and Surgery

As with any surgery it is normal to lose sensation and with breast lift surgery it can be around your nipple however this is normally a temporary occurrence with sensation returning in 6 to 8 weeks. The reason for the change in sensation is that during surgery nerves are traumatised and ‘squashed’ due to breast swelling and the nerves being severed and the e dissection puts the nipple region at risk. It can take a number of weeks for nerves to regenerate and for you to return to normality.

(ii)Conversely there are cases when women areola and nipples to become more sensitive In fact in some rare cases it can be painful

With a T lift there are the most incisions and this means more likely hood of a change to sensation compared to other lift surgeries. Peri- areolar and Crescent surgeries cater for patients with little sagging and as a result less incisions and less likelihood of risk of loss of nipple sensation

How Long Does a Breast Lift Last?

The good news is that your surgery outcome will be long lasting and if you look after yourself it is likely to be the only breast lift surgery you require. If however you are young when you have your surgery you may require a second breast lift 25 – 30 years later ( a very long time later !) and you may need a lift then due to normal changes in your body as you age
